Wednesday, October 10: West Branch SP, Ohio

It took me a while to get my act together this morning, I felt like I was moving in slow motion. The tent was still wet from the previous afternoon’s rain and my chair was still soaked. I hate packing up wet gear. After a warm breakfast and a hot shower, I said my goodbyes to Tom and Kate and headed west. Tom warned me to be careful of the elk as it was mating season and they were likely to jump out onto the road without warning. Yeah, I’d like to avoid that at all costs. Have you ever seen an elk? Those bastards are huge! I made it through though without contributing to the already road kill lined streets.

When I arrived at West Branch State Park in Ohio, it was raining and cold and there wasn’t any sign of that changing soon. It was supposed to rain at night as well as in the morning. This park was just a sleepover park and I was going to be leaving early in the morning, so I weighed my options and decided to just sleep in the backseat of my car.

There were washers and dryers on sight, so I did a load of laundry, made some chicken Ramen and snuggled up with a good movie in the car! Good times.
