Tuesday, October 2: Boston

Today, I forced myself to get out of bed early so that I could catch the T downtown again to get a head start on the day. I wanted to do some exploration while Julie was at work and Christian was at school. I had to transfer to another train to get to Fenway Park and everything went without a hitch. A few blocks from the station there it stood in its enormity, the beloved and infamous Fenway Park, home of the Green Monster. It was my Mecca. I was in heaven, the only thing better would’ve been if I had gotten to go to a home game. But I’ve vowed to get back here next year and be a part of the action.

Instead, I went into the official Red Sox store located right across the street and holy crap, it literally had everything Sox related. It was massive and hard to take all in, red and navy blue engulfed the store wall to wall and floor to ceiling. Time was beginning to slip by me and I had to start making my way back to downtown, I decided to give walking a shot and off I went. About 30 minutes later I realized that I was going to be wasting too much time walking and opted to catch the train back in. It’s a good thing I changed my mind because I was so busy looking around at everything that I was walking in the wrong direction! Good job Kel.

So I waited for the train with my Charley Card in hand when I overheard a woman tell someone that they had to buy a ticket. So, I used my card to buy a ticket just in time for the train to pull up. Turns out I could’ve just used my card after all, dang it, now I really looked like a tourist. Oh well. So I waited patiently in line and when I boarded the train, the operator had already started moving. I inserted my ticket where it was quickly sucked up and hurried along to find a seat before to avoid a face plant into the floor. As I went down the isle I heard an agitated voice yell “EXCUSE ME!!!!” and I quickly turned around to realize he was talking to me. I returned to him and said “I’m sorry, did I do something wrong?” and he responded with an angry “TAKE YA TICKET!!!” What a douche bag. So I did what anyone would’ve done, I said “That wasn’t quite necessary” and called him an asshole as I found a seat. Seriously dude, take a freaking chill pill.

Back downtown, I walked down the waterfront, through Faneuil Hall and back down to the North End. Before I knew it, my time was almost up and I needed to get back to the train station to get back to Weymouth. I had just enough time to hit up Mike’s Pastry again for some more cannolis. Coffee and cannolis make the perfect breakfast and thought it would make a nice treat in the morning.

I made it back with just enough time to get Julie and Christian before we headed to dinner with my grandfather and Aunt. What a crazy day, I just can’t get enough of this town! I heart Boston!!! J
