Today I went to the Franklin Institute to see the King Tut and the Pharoahs exhibit and it was freaking awesome! Even though I got there early, there were already a lot of people there for the museum. At least a majority of the day camps that were there (at least five by my count) weren't there for the special exhibit. I meandered through the crowds like a pro and got a first hand look at the legendary exhibit, it was so freaking cool. Kudos National Geographic, job well done.
After that, I hit the streets and walked all through the city. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cities. The urban life is definitely one that I can see myself in. The architecture here is just gorgeous. The quiet tree-lined residential streets, exquisite churches and historic buildings of our countries forefathers are just breath-taking. The squares and parks were a great resting place to sit and people watch.
I rounded out the afternoon with an excursion to buy some fresh produce from a local market and a famous Philadelphia soft pretzel. Yuh-huh-my!! It was delish. I cannot wait to go to the museum of art tomorrow, I may have trouble sleeping I'm so excited. I was there a few years ago, but as I was here for work, didn't have much time to enjoy it. Tomorrow though, I have a date with the Rocky steps. Yeah baby! I'm lacing up my tennis shoes and making a run for it, hehe! After catching my breath from that, it's off to take in one of the largest art collections in the states!!!! I'm down right giddy about it.
I forgot to bring my sketch book, can you believe that?! What a dumbass. Thankfully, there's an art store a few blocks away, so I can pick one up tomorrow morning before the museum. The Eastern State Penitentiary is just blocks away from the museum, so I'm contemplating heading there as well. It was the former home of good old Al Capone. We'll see. I think the Rodin Museum might win out!!!
Until next time friends! :)
