Beginnings...

Alas, I am in West Palm Beach and no longer a resident of J-Ville (sigh). The intense travel planning will soon begin while I unpack the basics and gear up for some freelance to help fund "The Adventures of Kel Mac." I would love to report that everything went off without a hitch, but I'm sure all of us are well acquainted with Murphy's law...

I was heading south on I-95 edging ever so much closer to West Palm Beach and happy that the drive would soon be over when the phone rang, it was my brother. I'm not a fan of talking on the phone while driving because it freaks me out, but I take the call anyway and let him know that I'll be home shortly and will call him then. That period of time, which seriously lasted maybe a minute and a half tops, was enough to notice that I was priveleged enough to have flashing lights in my rear view mirror.......F***! Oh yes kids, a member of the Florida Highway Patrol's finest wanted to meet me.

So, I make my way to the side of the road turn off the car and await the introductions. I would tell you the officer's name, but to be honest, I didn't catch it and I can't make out his last name on the ticket, so I'll just call him Ltd. C because that's the most I can make out on the carbon copy. Oh yes, no warnings, no walking back to the car to run my information, just straight to the ticket writing. 79 mph in a 70 mph zone....dammit. So, I have my ticket for $89.90 and a whole 30 days to pay it. This is my first ticket....EVER. He said something about online traffic school and insurance, etc. but the whizzing of the cars that were passing drummed him out. My first ticket ever and I wasn't even a speed demon and I have to go to traffic school, what the hell is all that about. Now I have to find out from the DMV if it's required and what the whole points thing means and so forth. Ltd. C handed over my citation, asked me to sign and sent me on my merry little way. (insert big sigh here)

Ten to 15 minutes later I arrived on my parents doorstep and informed them that I was no longer the ONLY family member who had not received a ticket. LOL. Oh well, shit happens.

Oh yeah, and it also took me three hours to get the internet up and running through my router because for some reason electronics and I don't always click. So, sorry for any delay in getting back to you fine folks.

I think that makes for an interesting beginning don't you/ I can only imagine what driving cross country to San Diego in a Uhaul will bring. Too bad I didn't have my camera handy, Ltd. C's picture would've been an interesting beginning to the photo ops, haha!!!
